To date, this has to be one of our most rewarding designs. The client gave us the scope to design something grand; the space and surrounding countryside allowed us to think big and create a very special country garden.
Rose and perennial borders surround a formal lawn whilst generous gravel paths give the garden a strong structure and identity. The large trees that inhabit the site have been seamlessly woven into the design and create awe inspiring focal points.
The original garden that we were asked to draw a design for consisted of a mass of hard landscaped terrace and a scraggy back garden containing an ill placed pool. To complicate matters further, the variety of on site conditions made creating a cohesive planting scheme a little tricky.
The end result is extremely pleasing. The garden offers a variety of alfresco seating/social opportunities and is softened by luscious planting, whilst retaining the balance between space and areas of individual interest.
Shady gardens can often present a series of problems, especially with planting. The following photographs demonstrate that you can achieve some beautifully varied planting that holds interest throughout the year.
Planting Design is an integral factor in our gardens. The structure that plants offer and the interest throughout the seasons is the very driving force of emotion that a garden projects.
There is a border for every garden; whether you are looking for a comprehensive re-design of you garden or are looking to improve specific areas, we can provide a planting scheme to bring your garden to life.

Nepeta and Stipa planting
The initial site was a very scrubby piece of land that had been neglected after the completion of the new house. We were asked to design a rockery garden to complement the new pond.
Given that there was very little slope to work with the design had to work extremely hard to give the impression of a rockery. Moreover, bringing the various parts of the garden together proved to be challenging. A combination of heavy material and planting use around a strong structural identity gives the garden cohesion. The results are very pleasing.
a Moroccan inspired garden, designed and built alongside Col Turner Gardens. A beautiful contemporary and minimalist space space to enjoy a morning coffee.
Raised Pond
The classic town house garden with a twist.
Our trademark heavy planting really brought out the beautiful hard landscaping materials that we able to use. The garden has a definite alfresco appeal and presents as a tranquil and peaceful space. The clients added a touch of humour with the Rhino protruding through the garage.
